Being a Black Muslim Woman | Samar Asamoah

A mixed media artist of African and Caribbean origin, Samar Asamoah presents her reversion story to Islam and her experiences of being a black Muslim woman living in England.

With October being Black History Month in the UK, the One Community department re-launched its “Against Racism, Against Hatred” campaign during this month under the title: “Islam & Black History”.

On Wednesday 28th October, an event was arranged in Newcastle University with a host of speakers and organisations from various backgrounds, discussing the role of black people in Islamic history, sharing their experiences of being black and Muslim, and explaining Islam’s solution to racism.
